Vets in Practice Animal Hospital (VIP) has been one of our trusted hospitals ever since we had our first rabbit more than 10 years ago. Years ago, we usually went to their clinic in Tiendesitas in Pasig for minor check ups, and to their Mandaluyong branch for major operations such as spay/neuter, until they opened their main branch in Fort Bonifacio, which became our go-to branch because 1) their head exotic vet (Dr. Nielsen Donato) was there, and 2) they had good facilities.

We were always happy with their facilities and services, but we always wished that there could be a nearer branch (we’re from Quezon City!) that offered both minor and major services, and had an exotic vet that we trusted. Their previous branch in Quezon City and Tiendesitas only offered minor services, so for major operations, we had to go to their Fort branch. And since traffic took a lot of time, each trip definitely stressed out our furbabies! So, when we heard that they opened a major branch along Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City with one of our most trusted vets stationed there, we decided to schedule Acorn and Barley’s yearly check up there.

We made an appointment with Dra. Siday Peñaranda, one of the vets of VIP that we have known the longest. The first thing that we noticed and appreciated upon arriving is their ample space for parking. The second is their spacious and comfortable waiting area. Similar to other VIP branches, staff were also courteous and helpful.

Consultations are done inside their individual consultation rooms so you don’t have to worry about privacy. For our appointment, we wanted to get our two boys their annual physical check-up, complete blood tests and teeth (molar) check-up.

Below is Barley getting his teeth checked. Instead of using mouth gags and cheek dilators, Dra. Siday used an otoscope to inspect his teeth, which we appreciated since it’s a lot less stressful for rabbits.
After getting their physical check-up, they got their nails trimmed. And right after that, Barley and Acorn both got their blood checked. We were happy to get good results for both of them – yay!

Regarding the cost of their services, they charge P3,000 for complete blood test/ CBC and P650 for consultation fee. Other services that they offer for rabbits include Teeth/ Molar Trim, Spay and Neuter, and other operations as well.
Other things to note is that they have a spacious second floor for their pet grooming services, confinements and rehab/ therapies. According to Dra. Siday, they also hold discussions there for their veterinarians (from their different branches) in order to align treatments given across all branches, especially for exotic pets such as rabbits. VIP has also been actively training new vets on how to treat rabbits properly. Given that the existing doctors who specialize in rabbits are few and also have very tight schedules, other doctors are also taught to be knowledgable in treating rabbits.

Other things to note about the newly opened branch is that there are several dining options that you can walk to in case you need to wait long for your little one’s treatment or operation. There’s a Starbucks and a McDonalds that you can walk to, among others, and a small grocery nearby. Also inside right beside the waiting area, there’s a small coffee shop named Cuppa Puppa if you need your caffeine fix while waiting.

To set an appointment, you can contact their hospital via their Viber hotline 0917-8911320 or their landline 8962-1552 to 54. Dra. Siday’s schedule as of writing, are Mondays, Wednesdays, and every other Thursdays, but please make sure to check with the branch in case this changes. Here’s our little Barley posing for the camera after his check-up with Dra. Siday 🙂

Please note that we are not paid nor are we receiving anything to write this, but since VIP has been our number 1 go-to vet for our rabbits for years with Dra. Siday as one of our trusted vets, we wanted to share our experience with their new branch 🙂
